Main interests: Illuminationism and Suhrawardi and its revival

Remarkable ideas: Dinani is a philosopher whose views are unique to him. After years of studying in seminary and university and thinking and contemplation, he has exceptional knowledge and mastery in Eastern and Western philosophy. Still, he looks at the world through the window of an Islamic philosopher.

About Dinani

Gholam Hossein Ebrahimi Dinani (born January 26, 1963, Isfahan, Iran) is an Iranian writer and philosopher. Most of his fame is due to his achievements in the Wisdom of Illuminationism and Suhrawardi and its revival. Dinani has an impressive mastery over the philosophy of Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd, Suhrawardi and Mulla Sadra.

He has reviewed all the works and writings of Sheikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi and has authored several influential books about the philosophy and thoughts of this Iranian philosopher. He is currently a retired professor in the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Literature and Humanities, University of Tehran. He has taught philosophy at Tehran University, Tarbiat Modares University, and Azad University.

Dinani has participated in numerous national and foreign seminars and conferences and has written many articles and works in philosophy and theology, some of which have received the National Award. For example, in 2005, he won the Book of the Year award with his book The textbook of Reason and the verse of Love, in 2006 with his book Ibn Rushd’s brilliance in the Wisdom of the Peripatetic School, and 2010, with his book Philosophy and the kingdom of Speech. These are the most noteworthy works of this profound philosopher, distinguishing him (Dinani) from all contemporary thinkers. He views philosophy as a single living thing, not as separate components, as a fluid and dynamic flow, not as independent and different rivers.

He is a full member of the Iranian Academy of Sciences and the leading figure of Iranian Philosophy in the first period of the Conference of Enduring Figures. So far, several articles and documentaries have been written and produced about this well-known philosopher. His free lessons are for students of philosophy, researchers and those interested in the free study of Islamic philosophy in the Iranian Society of Wisdom and Philosophy. Apart from university and free classes, Dinani has a series of courses entitled Knowledge on Iran’s Channel 4th TV.

Achievements

Dinani has composed more than forty books and collections and hundreds of articles. His works are so numerous that no centre has ever collected all of his written and audio pieces. His audio and video works are related to classes, lectures, interviews, television programs and documentaries that have taken place over the past forty years.
